My first taste of Texas Barbecue was at Rudy's Texas BBQ in College Station.
It was another "feel like you're outside" dining experience, with big glass windows, and wooden tables with red and white checkered table cloths.
I'm assuming it's a popular place for locals because the girl at the order counter looked puzzled when I was staring at the menu board behind her. After my third "ummm..." she understood that- not only was I one of those people who struggles with their indecisiveness when at restaurants-but that it was my first time at Rudy's.
She immediately told the man at the pit behind her that I needed samples- I tried the brisket, the turkey, and the pork. The meat was moist and smoky- basically, it made the meat they serve in the dining hall seem (sorry, no offense)- nearly inedible (seriously, no offense- it was just really good meat).
YES I had to use the sissy sauce.
but- I for sureee would have tried the regular one if they served milk to make the spiciness more tolerable.
