My last experience in Austin was doing a little run at Town Lake-
Definitely my ideal running terrain because it was just a flat dirt path with the perfect amount of other runners, bikers and walkers.
I was running just in time to catch the rowers on the lake starting their workout. I have never seen the UVA team practice, so it was fun to see how they workout- rowing next to the motor boat beside them with the coach on the megaphone.
For a second it looked like I was going the same pace as them because they were parallel to me on the path- Not so much, they passed me really quickly and were gone.
My amusement for the day: While I was running, a lady jogging toward me lost control of her chocolate lab, who sprinted toward the lake, barked up a tree for a good 10 seconds, then jumped into the water after a tennis ball thrown by another dog's owner.
I could just hear the dog's thought process- as the woman interrupted her run dragging her hand on the ground in an attempt to catch the leash.
"Running...running.., oh man I wish I could run faster, humans are slow
SQUIRREL? Sprint, must get furry animal
ooo SQUIRREL
JUMP...REACH...
What- TENNIS BALL? SPRINT-
JUMP IN WATER
Oh man- COLD... DOGGIE PADDLE- MUST GET BALL.
GOT BALL.. What should I do with it...ooo Bring it back to my owner, she'll love me. Doggie Paddle
SHAKE- Oops, did I get you wet?
Whattt, I don't want to keep running, I just showered in the lake...
