Day 2: Prerace at Luigi’s Patio Restaurant

Luigi’s was definitely one of the better Italian restaurants I have been to- The atmosphere was excellent- besides live music, the interior imitated an outdoor patio to give a cozy, laid-back feeling. There were lighted umbrellas above the tables with elegant lights and a fountain in the center of the room.

The waiter was also very accommodating and pleasant, which was a big deal because let’s face it- runners can be picky…

Traveling with a team of runners, you always hear…”Um, could I order this but get this dish’s side instead?” or...
“I don’t like eggplant, could I get broccoli? Oh and can I have the dressing for my salad on the side? And the sauce for my chicken on the side too?”
I may or may not be guilty of this…
Runners aren’t high maintenance, okay? They just know what they want!

Anyway, I ordered:

Pollo alla Crosta di Noci
pecan encrusted chicken breast sautéed with trentino pinot grigio, atop a creamy fig sauce, accompanied with mashed potatoes & chef’s vegetables 17

Unfortunately, I ate it before I even thought of taking a picture...

I cannot even begin to describe how delicious it was- It was only 17 dollars, but I would have easily paid twice that. The fig sauce was alcohol-based and it had a sweet tanginess that complimented the nutty taste of the chicken.  It even rivaled my favorite dish-Chicken Marsala

And I may or may not have asked for a double order of pasta on the side… (Their pasta sauce was fresh and delicious)
